Median Income for Immigrants

Immigrants to Canada generally have lower incomes than Canadian-born residents when they first arrive. Over time, they become more established and eventually catch up to their Canadian-born counterparts. In recent years, the time that it takes for immigrants to become established is taking longer, resulting in lower income as compared to Canadian-born residents. The median income of immigrants is a measure of the economic and social well-being of Surrey's immigrant population, and the City's aim is that it equals that of the total population over time.
