Green Certification for New Buildings

Green buildings use energy, water and other resources more efficiently, reduce waste and pollution, and protect occupant health. Green building certification systems set voluntary standards for industry to incorporate features that are environmentally responsible and resource efficient. These practices extend to many aspects of a building's life cycle, including siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and renovation. The number of new buildings in Surrey that are certified as green is a measure of how sustainable the built environment is.
