Green Certification for Existing Buildings

Buildings account for a significant proportion of energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in a community. Green building certification systems set voluntary standards for industry to incorporate features that are environmentally responsible and resource efficient. Certification can encourage building managers to undertake energy retrofits and maintain energy efficient building practices, which can also result in energy savings and reduced GHG emissions. The number of existing buildings that achieve green certification is a measure of the energy and environmental performance of Surrey's building stock. Data source: BOMA BEst.
