Volunteering is the offering of one's time, energy and skill, often without monetary reward. Volunteering gives residents opportunities to become involved in their communities, help others, accomplish activities and provide services that may not otherwise exist. Volunteers also benefit from gaining new skills, meeting new people, and feeling a sense of belonging and empowerment. The number of residents that volunteer with the City is a measure of the level of volunteerism in Surrey, and the City aims to see a 2% increase in volunteerism per year.
For this and other sustainability indicators, see the City's Sustainability Dashboard.
