Integrated Stormwater Management Plans

Integrated Stormwater Management Plans (ISMPs) take an ecosystem-based approach to rainwater management. These plans are an essential part of a city's growth management strategy since land use changes can increase flood and environmental risks. An ISMP is specific to an individual watershed and outlines recommendations to address existing and potential drainage, erosion, and flooding concerns, protect and restore stream health, and improve existing or potential water quality problems. The percent of Surrey's land area that is covered by an ISMP is a measure of how well Surrey is managing stormwater in the City.
