Rate of Fire

Sustained efforts are required to ensure public safety in residential communities of Surrey. This measure establishes the rate of fire per 1,000 residential structures (regardless of cause) and is a leading indicator of neighbourhood distress. Non-residential and other structural fires are excluded from this metric. The City aims to maintain of decrease the rate of residential fires over time. This indicator is also a performance measure for the Public Safety Strategy.
